Agathe says YES to short supply chains!
Yes, since its major refurbishment in 2020, Agathe and her team of pastry enthusiasts have decided to work (as much as possible) only with Swiss producers! It was a flying start for this bold entrepreneur, as for the Swissness range, the butter, flour, and eggs come from Swiss artisans located less than 100km from the biscuit bakery… But why local sourcing?
  • In love with good products, Agathe decided to support and value local producers in order not to compromise on the quality of the ingredients she uses to make her delicious little Swiss biscuits, while supporting the local economy of her beloved country.
  • In love with Switzerland, by choosing local sourcing, Agathe reduces her environmental impact – just like her packaging with butter delivered in returnable crates – and also acts to preserve the planet and all the splendid landscapes it has to offer us.
  • In love with her delicious biscuits, Agathe has long thought about the most sustainable and lasting way to produce her little biscuits… which also avoids her being dependent on potential problems with heavy consequences for supply, which we are currently witnessing.
Alexis Richard, head baker of Agathe biscuit bakery, summarizes the situation for us: “Choosing local sourcing means being in line with the values we uphold: eating organic and local. It would therefore make no sense to achieve this goal with ingredients that come from far away from our biscuit bakery. That’s sustainable development.” One goal? 100% organic and 100% Swiss! Confident but also aware of the major challenge she is setting herself, Agathe has already encountered the first difficulties of this challenge with the supply of organic sugar: even with all the goodwill in the world, no Swiss producer was able to supply the desired quantities of organic sugar, which is why, for the time being, she had to turn to a German producer. “Never mind!” exclaims Agathe. “It is by paving the way that other brands and aspiring producers will follow…” So, to all organic Swiss sugar producers, the doors of our biscuit bakery are wide open to you :)
