Hello Alexis, and welcome to the blog! As head chef—CEO of my biscuit bakery to those in the know—I've invited you today to discuss a topic dear to us: Swiss biscuits!
But let's start at the beginning… could you tell our #Swissbiscuitlovers why you embarked on the Agathe adventure with me?
Alexis Richard: My dear Agathe, I've spent the last 20 years of my professional life in the technology sector. During this time, I traveled a lot, particularly to the United States and Asia. And each time, upon returning from these long journeys, I had the same thought: what a joy it is to return to our Switzerland, its mountains and beautiful landscapes. As a lover of good things, joining you was a way for me to actively contribute to the reputation of the Switzerland I love so much.
As great lovers of good products, challenges, and our beautiful country, we immediately set the goal of making 100% Swiss biscuits. Can you explain why?
Alexis: We started from a simple observation. Today, there are many quality biscuits in Switzerland. But looking closer, too many recipes use ingredients that come from all corners of the world while claiming to be Swiss. We want to do things differently: offer true "Swissness" biscuits with real Swiss ingredients, and even, when possible, with ingredients that come as close as possible to our biscuit bakery in Nyon.
What does 100% Swissness biscuits imply? Do you think we'll get there?
Alexis: Yes, that's the roadmap we've set for ourselves. It's difficult, because you have to find the right ingredients – the butter, the flour, the eggs, etc. – but you'll see, Agathe, we will succeed. Impossible is not Agathe, after all ;)
Thanks to the work of all my commis, we have already successfully created 2 organic recipes! But since we never do things by halves at Agathe's, we have also set ourselves the goal of soon only producing organic! Can you explain why? And how?
Alexis: You know, Agathe, I think we can already be proud of what we've done. We haven't just launched a first organic biscuit; we've succeeded in the challenge of launching our first Swiss organic biscuit! All our organic biscuits use only organic Swiss ingredients (with the exception of sugar, because unfortunately there isn't enough organic sugar produced in Switzerland for now... to those who can help, you know where to find me.)
When do you think we'll get there?
Alexis: That doesn't just depend on us. We also need to be able to find enough organic Swiss ingredients for our recipes. But Agathe, as more and more Swiss farmers are producing organic, we will get there! Between your delicious recipes and my professional experience, no organic producer will be able to resist us.
Thank you, Alexis! Should we reveal that new Swiss biscuits will be coming out soon? Maybe we should keep it a surprise, right? In the meantime, I suggest we encourage our beloved readers to order the complete range of my little biscuits here or head to Manor and your favourite grocery store to taste them immediately! And if you don't find them in your grocery store, write to us with the store's name!
To conclude, tell us what your favourite Swiss biscuit is?
Alexis: Hehe, it's hard to choose! I really love them all, but if I had to pick just one, I think it would be your little lemon rounds! I can't resist their tangy taste...
