October is one of my favourite months! Do you know why? First, because it’s THE month to marvel at the
désalpes (alpine cattle descent), then because the trees adorn themselves in flamboyant colors, and finally, because, obviously, it’s an opportunity to enjoy lots of
Carameuhles with delicious Basel Läckerli caramel. And coincidentally, it was to Basel that I decided to escape last weekend, to discover an unknown Basel, that of Foxtrail…
Come with me, I’m taking you on the fox’s trail!
I had heard about the
Foxtrail treasure hunts and had been wanting to try one for a while… a few hours as a fox, searching for treasure, I must admit it’s tempting!
After much deliberation among the 5 quests in Basel, each more intriguing than the last, I finally chose the Purple hunt! Without a moment's hesitation, with my hen Aglaé - very excited at the idea of finally becoming a fox - we started the hunt early in the morning under a beautiful autumn sun.
To begin with, a little surprise awaited us, as the treasure hunt was available in English and German! Kein problem! It was the perfect opportunity for Aglaé and me to step out of our comfort zone and work on our somewhat rusty German…
Then, the least we can say is that we didn't expect this! From historical adventures to artistic discoveries, from the history of the city to that of our fox… throughout this epic journey, we learned a lot about Basel and its origins. We even became artists for a challenge, not to mention the alien we met!
After these few hours with our explorer hats on, we deserved to settle down by the Rhine to enjoy some delicious
Carameuhles (hello, flour, eggs, and butter from the Canton of Vaud) while admiring this magical city that held no more secrets for us!
Once home, Aglaé and I recounted our foxy
adventure to Myrtille and Ginette, who had stayed grazing in their meadow, and they begged me to take them on a new Foxtrail! Of course, I gave in, and we are currently looking at what our next adventure will be! What's great about Foxtrail is that you can do these hunts in a herd!
